Past,
Present, and Future
I
was born in St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1995.
My birthplace is in Yokosuka, Japan.
My dad has been stationed there when he served the military in the Navy
branch. Years later, in 2000, I moved to
Honolulu, Hawaii. I had such a great
time there, with nothing to worry about in the world. I’ve walked to beaches every day with my
cousin, ate some exotic food, slept in luxurious hotels, and went to huge
malls. A year later, I moved to Kauai,
Hawaii and had to say goodbye to my friends I’ve made. My dad has been ordered to move to the Navy
base in Kauai. I moved into a small
school called Kekaha Elementary School.
I have to admit, it was pretty rough for me for a few weeks to fit in,
but I gave myself time. A few months
later, I made some new friends. A year
later, I got into a fight with a first grader.
I was in Kindergarten at the time.
I felt threatened so I fought back and made him bleed. I walked away with a black right eye. My mom became furious with the kid who
punched me. So she made me move to a
Catholic private school called St. Theresa.
What’s unique about this school is that this school is mixed with
students, pre-school through 8th grade. During 2nd grade in 2002, I moved
back to my birthplace, Yokosuka, Japan, and said goodbye to all my friends back
at St. Theresa. I have to move there because
my dad has orders again. My family and I
moved in a house outside the base; the typical oriental home with exotic Tatami
mats and beautiful Shoji sliding doors. Since
I lived outside the base, I always ride a public bus with my grandmother every
day to school. We moved in the Navy base
a year later. Being in the base is easier
for me to make more friends, but I felt a little homesick for leaving my old
home. A few years later, my father has
been promoted to Chief Petty Officer and we moved to another city. We moved into another Navy base in a city
called Sasebo. Compared to Yokosuka, Sasebo
seems extremely dull to me. Sasebo is
also small, so there isn’t much to do.
But the good thing about it is since Sasebo is small; I can make some
new friends effortlessly. In this small
base, everyone knew each other and become friends with each other. I moved in a school called E.J King School;
this school is mixed with all grades, from pre-school to 12th
grade. The school is also compact, with
a total of 500 students, from 6th grade to 12th
grade. Despite the small population of
students, I’m satisfied with it. In
2009, I moved back in the Philippines with my relatives, who I’m not very fond of. My sister and I barely understand our native
language, so it’s difficult for us to know what they’re talking about. We usually get this bad vibe on them. A few weeks later, I enrolled in this private
school called Springdale. I’m actually
surprised that English is the primary language in this school. I have to wear this uncomfortable uniform,
especially in this hot and humid weather makes it worse. A few years later, we moved back to the U.S.
and stayed in Norfolk, Virginia, where my father retired.
My
family and I moved to Norfolk, Virginia, which is actually the worst move I’ve
ever been in. Since we took flight
during the winter, there has been a fierce snowstorm back in 2011. It was difficult for us to move because our
flights have been canceled and we stayed in Detroit, Michigan for a few
days. On December 29, we made it to
Norfolk. I enrolled in a school called
Maury High School, which is famous for its NJROTC program. I joined their NJROTC program there and I had
a great experience being part of it. In
February 28, 2012, I have to say goodbye to my friends from Norfolk. My family and I moved here, Oxnard,
California. Fortunately, moving to the
west coast is our last move, since there’s nowhere we can go since my father
retired. In June 13, 2013, I graduated
from high school, which is my biggest accomplishment. After graduation, I registered for Ventura
College with a nursing major.
In
the future, I would like to be part of the nursing program in Ventura College. After I accomplish that, I was planning on
going to enroll in a university in-state.
I want to leave Oxnard one day and travel around the world. Or possibly go back to Japan to see my
friends or go back to the Philippines and see my other relatives. I honestly have no idea what kind of nurse I’m
going to be or what interests me. But I will
let time tell what I’m going to be.
Glad you ended up in California! Welcome to the class.
ReplyDeleteSwitching schools must have been rough. I don't think I'd be able to handle moving around that much. Regardless, at least you got to see the world a little! I hope you enjoy your time here and good luck in any future endeavors.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are staying in Oxnard, where the weather is always nice. Being a military child is tough, interesting life.
ReplyDeletePretty sweet birth date. Hopefully you do get to see the world one day that would be nice.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a pretty interesting background. Good luck with your future endeavors.
ReplyDeleteWow you've been moving since a pretty young age. I bet it was always tough to fit in and stuff, I was terrified to move too because I had to leave my friends behind. Good Luck man.
